The year of change
Posted in Uncategorized on January 1st, 2006“Do we have the power to shape our lives, or are we predestined to be who we are? If our Fate is but one amongst many, then whose life, if anyone’s, is real? If our lives are indeed the sum total of the choices we make, then we can not change who we are. But with every new choice, we can change who we are going to be.” Control of Outer Limits
A new year. A time of making new resolutions and breaking old habits. A chance to start afresh and make changes in ones life to decide where one wants to go.
One change I have made is going to church regularly and I really like it. I grew up as a Souther Baptist, but too often I have gone to churches where the hypocrisy in the pulpit was overwhelming. Okay, I’m no saint, not even close, but I feel a pastor should be a bit above the rest in their attempts to live up to the teachings of the Bible, at the same time, honest that they can’t always achieve it. After all, they are only human. That understanding of their own humanity is what seperates good pastors with great ones. The pastor at my current church is a great one. Friendly, honest, human.
The question of the month is, “Who is helping you notice where God is actively working in your life?” For me, my pastor is one, my son is the other.
